March 2008

The consultation process has been going on for around 4 months now and is almost at an end. Here you can see the overall results from the surveys that were returned.

Based on these results and focus group discussions, a landscape architect is busy drawing some draft plans for the park.

These will be available for everybody to view and have their say... keep checking back and look out in the local press for more details on this very soon...

Groundwork UK were commissioned by Tameside Council to do the consultation exercise on behalf of the Friends Group. Postal surveys were sent to around 800 residents, with the option to return by post or complete online via Tameside Council's website. Outreach work was carried out with young people on the park and children at the local schools were also asked for their opinions. On the next page you can also see the results from a small focus group meeting held in February.

Kate Morley from Groundwork has been responsible for co-ordinating the consultation and the Group would like to say a big thank you to her for the effort and support that has been put into this project to date.

Below are extracts from a presentation done by Kate to the Group - based on the results of the consultation.
