Just a bit about us...

My name is Bhagvati Mistry, I am the Chair of Friends Of Granada Park.

My main reason for volunteering on this group is due to having two young children. I feel that the Dane Bank area does not have suitable facilities for children of this age.
I am hoping that the improvements of the park will grow with my children and that they will get enoyment out of the park for many years to come.
We tend to travel to Victoria Park or Stamford Park or go out of the authority to Debdale Park, Heaton Park or Manor Park at present, which is a shame when we have such potential on our own doorstep.
I feel that each local area should have a good park that caters for all members of the community, young and old and people should have a say on what they want to see in the park, as it is the community who will use it after all.
The Friends of Granada Park is strong group who are working considerably hard and remarkably fast to get new projects underway.
We would like to engage more people from our local community to assist us in the development of our Park.

My name is Sarah Brown and I am secretary for Friends of Granada park.

I have been involved with the friends group since it was formed back in April 2007. I'm a mum to a seven year old and a 2 year old.
My main motivation behind getting involved with the group is my desire to see  a fun, safe, clean and exciting enviroment for both mine and local kids to play in, one where the whole family can have fun.  I think it's important that the community has a focal point to spend time with their family's at weekends, after school and in the school holidays.
One of the aims of the friends group is to offer a safe enviroment for both children and teens to play and hang out.  As a mother of a growing family I want to feel  that I am doing something to make that happen.

I'm Lisa Crannage the Treasurer of the Friends of Granada Park

I became involved in the Friends group in April 2007. As a local resident and mum to two young children (ages 4 & 2), I found it very frustrating that there was nowhere I could walk to with my children where they could play in the outdoors, ride their bikes and meet friends in a safe environment away from traffic and other dangers.
I heard about the first meeting through my daughters school and decided to go along - figured there was no point just sitting there moaning about something - why not get involved, have a say and hopefully do something about it!
I'm really glad I did as I have met a like minded, very determined group of people who have a collective goal - to improve the park and its facilities - not just for now, but for the future too.
I am proud to say I am a part of the group and hopefully as my children grow up, they will benefit from all our commitment and hard work.
