Outdoor Gym Equipment Launch Date - 5th July

  Back in October the Group was awarded £15k to create an outdoor gym for older people. The grant was provided by the Tameside Opening Doors for Older People Project. Older People's Partnership logo

This will be installed shortly  (launch date 05/07/09) so keep checking back for updates on this and other exciting news!

Friends Group Win £7000 from Awards for All Lottery Grant

The funding is to help establish a bowling group in the park, buy equipment and start school intergenerational sessions from June 2009.

Friends of Granada Park is a voluntary community group that was formed in May 2007.

The group is dedicated to improving the facilities in Granada Park, making it a place where all members of the community, of all ages, will want to come together and enjoy the park - whether it be in the childrens play area, walking the dog, playing sports or just having a chat.

We want to increase the number of people using the park and for these people to take pride in the park and respect it.

Come and enjoy Granada Park this summer with lots of new activities and facilities. From bowling, to playing on the new play area, to physical fun and the new adult outdoor gym equipment! Help make your park a community park and come and join in the fun.
 
 
Granada Park Bowling Group officially got underway on Monday 29th June by hosting a school taster session for 30 young children from Denton West End Primary School.The children had a fabulous time and learnt that bowls is not just for the elderly but is in fact a very skillful and active game.

Bowling will continue throughout the summer
Family bowling sessions (aged 6 yrs up)
Saturdays 11, 18 and 25th July 10.30 - 12.00 noon

Family bowling sessions (aged 6 yrs up)
Monday 10th, 17th and 24th August 1pm - 2 pm
then Multi sports sessions for the whole family on the park 2pm - 3pm
The multi sports sessions will consist of tri golf, rounders and short tennis.

All children must be accompanied by an adult at all times

 

  Official launch for Older Peoples Outdoor Gym Equiment takes place on Sunday 5th July at the park from 1pm - 3pm so come along and see a demonstration. Better still have a go yourself!!

Sainsburys Denton are once again supporting the friends group by providing refreshments.

Also the new bowling group will be launched  (funded with the help of Awards for All Lottery Grant ) A family bowling session will be taking place for everyone so come and join us we would love to see you all there.
